Statements of Belief from the elders

August 30, 2015

We believe if this church will join together in love, peace and unity (Eph. 4:1-3), we can help one another to put on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 13:14), and we can testify of the manifold wisdom of God as shown through Christ (Eph. 3:10).

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is infallible, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives. It is as relevant today, as it was when it was written. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 17:17

We believe in one eternal God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We believe our God is loving, merciful, and completely holy. Genesis 1:26-27; Ephesians 4:6; Matthew 3:13-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16-17; John 16-7-13; John 1:1

We believe that everyone has sinned and sin separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives. Romans 3:23; Psalm 14:1-3

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, as both God and man, is the only One who can reconcile us to God. His death on the cross paid the penalty for our sin. He is, indeed, the savior of the world. John 8:24; Acts 4:12

We believe in the Gospel, that the crucified and risen Messiah Jesus is the Lord of heaven and earth, and that through no merit of our own he has saved us by his grace. Matthew 28:18; Romans 1:3-5; Ephesians 2:4-10; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and experience the “new birth”, we must be born again. We believe we are to repent of our sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:5-7; John 3:16; Acts 2:38

We believe that God wants to heal and transform us into the image of His son.  2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:29; Ephesians 4:22-24

We believe that Jesus will return, the dead will be raised, God will renew all of creation, and the redeemed will dwell forever with him in a new heaven and a new earth. Acts 1:11; Romans 8:11; Matthew 19:28; Revelation 21:1-5

We believe Anyone can experience God’s mercy and forgiveness. Luke 19:1-10; Acts 8:26-40; Romans 10:13; Galatians 3:28; Acts 2:21; Luke 24:47

We believe in the ordinance of baptism by immersion as an outward expression of an inward belief that Jesus died, was buried, and was resurrected from the dead.  Romans 6:3-4; Matthew 3:13-17; Titus 3:4-7; Galatians 3:26-27

We believe we are to be holy in all we do. I Peter 1:15-16; Hebrews 12:14; Luke 4:18-19; Matthew 25:31-46; James 1:27

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for instruction, fellowship, prayer and communion.  Acts 2:44-47; Hebrews 10:24-25; Colossians 3:16; I Thessalonians 5:11; James 5:16; I Corinthians 11:17-34

We believe we are to worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:24

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, as He is understood from the Bible alone, regardless of denominational affiliation. John 17:20-21; John 10:16; I Corinthians 12:12-31

We believe that God has individually equipped us with gifts, and empowered all believers with His Holy Spirit, so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, obey His commands, produce disciples, and work to make sure everyone has an opportunity to be saved.  Matthew 28:18-20; I Corinthians 12:1-11; John 14:15-17

We believe in being compassionate toward the poor, the homeless, widows, orphans, and those without hope.  Luke 4:18-19; Matthew 25:31-46; James 1:27

We believe the tomb is empty!  Matthew 28:5-6
